Madhya Pradesh: Minor rape survivor in Bhopal gives birth to stillborn child

The matter was reported to the police when the family came to know about the pregnancy.

Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): A 14-year minor girl who was raped by her minor boyfriend, delivered a stillborn child at an ashram, said the officials here on Monday.

The victim and the accused (17) came in contact at Atal Path, TT Nagar area, around an year ago.The boy also used to visit the girl’s house and kept on making relationships with the her.

The matter was reported to the police when the family came to know about the pregnancy.

The TT Nagar police station has registered the case under rape sections against the boy and he was handed to the child line, on March 1, 2022. The police have now sent him to the juvenile justice board.

Director of the child line Archana Sahay said “The family of the victim was not ready to continue with the pregnancy, but the girl was not willing to terminate it”.

She further added that the mother of the victim is mentally unstable and no one is present to take care of the pregnant girl.

She said, “The victim was sent to her elder sister’s house for safe delivery, but when the team of child line made a visit to the victim’s house. They found it unsatisfactory. They brought the girl to the ashram”.

“The girl was admitted into the hospital and she gave birth to stillborn. The girl was only 14 years old and was not able to carry the child, but the girl is out of danger”, she added.

Sahay informed that the girl is recovering from pregnancy trauma and wanted to join the school. As the new session has begun, the girl will be admitted into the school.
