Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Thousands of police personnel across state submitted applications requesting transfers from one posting to another, officials said on Wednesday.
On the last date for transfers, a large number of policemen—ranging from constables to inspectors—reached the Police Headquarters (PHQ) on Tuesday. They met senior officers, including those from the AIG administration branch to Special DG, and submitted their transfer applications.
A lot of hustle and bustle was seen at the administration branch during this time. Officials marked the applications and kept them for review. The top brass will decide on transfers after considering the merit of each case.
Several women personnel were also present, some accompanied by their children, indicating the urgency and personal nature of their requests.
According to PHQ sources, it is common for a large number of police personnel to visit the headquarters every Tuesday seeking transfers. Many applicants cited reasons such as the need to care for elderly family members or to be posted in the same district as their spouse.
Special DG (Administration) Adarsh Katiyar said that over 10,000 personnel had applied. He said that the administration branch will scrutinise each application and transfers will be made on a merit basis. He also noted that the transfer process had been going on even before the final date and approvals were granted from time to time.
