Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): A tragic case of murder-suicide was reported from Bhopal’s Misrod police station jurisdiction, where a CRPF jawan first shot his wife dead and then himself, as reported by police on Thursday.
According to information, the incident took place between 1-2 am on the intervening night of Wednesday-Thursday. The deceased have been identified as CRPF personnel Ravikant Verma (35) and his wife Renu Verma (32).
It is said that Bhopal police control room and Dial 100 received a call from the CRPF jawan at 1:30 am on Thursday, over which he informed that he had shot his wife dead.

After the call, a team from Misrod police rushed to the scene only to find two bodies lying in the pool of blood, one of Ravikant and another one of his wife.
Also, an INSAS rifle was found near the bodies.
Additionally, the couple were parents to two children, a six-year-old son and a two-and-a-half year old daughter, who were found terrified and crying in a room of their rented house.
The CRPF camp is located in the Bangrasiya area. However, Ravikant Verma had been living with his family in a rented house in a nearby residential colony.

The neighbours also rushed to the deceased’s residence after hearing the bullet sound. On interrogation, they alleged that they could often hear loud voices of arguments from the couple’s residence.
According to police, preliminary investigations suggest that the CRPF jawan first shot his wife dead before turning the rifle on himself.
At present, the bodies have been sent for postmortem to AIIMS Bhopal. However, the reason behind taking such an extreme step is yet to be uncovered.
