Bhopal: Residents Attacked For Objecting To Liquor Consumption, 5 Held

Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Armed miscreants assaulted and injured residents of posh Orchid Majestic Colony on Airport Road under Gandhi Nagar police station late Wednesday night.

The residents claimed that miscreants attacked them for objecting to consumption of liquor openly at the colony. Some of the accused have been arrested while efforts were on to identify and arrest others, police said.

A CCTV footage of the incident has also gone viral on social media in which assailants can been seen entering the gated colony and assaulting its residents.

Sub-Inspector Kanhaiyalal Yadav said primary investigations revealed that some youths were consuming liquor near the gate of the colony when residents raised objection.

After a heated argument over two dozen miscreants barged inside the colony and attacked residents with sticks. One of the residents received a head injury in the assault. Police reached the spot after receiving information but the miscreants had fled by then.

CCTV footages showed that panicked residents are running away to save themselves while a youth was surrounded and attacked. It is alleged that half-a-dozen residents were injured in the attack. Police officials said that an FIR has been registered on complaint of residents and five miscreants have been arrested.
