Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Sunday said that BJP-led governments in Centre and state launched several schemes for socio-economic uplift of poor.
He was addressing Mama Ki Chai Pe Charcha programme organised by BJP near Ghanghaur temple here on Sunday morning.
“We offered wheat, rice and salt for Re 1 per kg to poor. Congress never did this. On getting admission in medical, engineering, law, IIM, government will pay fees of meritorious children of poor families,” he added.
Congress only gave the slogan of Garibi Hatao but did nothing to end poverty. But is its BJP’s resolve that no poor will remain without ration in MP, he said.
“Poor will be made owners of land pattas. Those who have land, will be given money to build houses. No encroachment on government land will be allowed. 21,000 acres of land that we have recovered from land mafia will be distributed to poor. My goal is to make life easier for poor,” Chouhan added.
The chief minister lashed out at former chief minister Kamal Nath for stopping Sambal Yojana after coming to power. “We decided to give Rs 4,000 to poor pregnant women and Rs 12,000 after delivery. But Kamal Nath stopped this scheme. We have revived it. Mukhyamantri Kanyadan Yojana has also been started for girls, so that there is no problem for marriage of their daughters,” he said.
