Bhopal: 3-day ‘Sant Ravidas Samaroh’; discussion sessions, songs, Dhrupad Jugalbandi, storytelling held

Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Discussion sessions, Dhrupad Jugalbandi and couplets of Sant Raidas were presented here on Saturday, the second-day of a three-day concert Sant Ravidas (Raidas) Samaroh.

The morning session began with the musical presentation of Raidas’s couplets, presented by the 17 artistes of Vihaan Drama Works , Bhopal, under direction of Saurabh Anant. The artistes were in black T-shirts and dhoti.

They presented four famous couplets of Raidas including,‘Prabhu ji Tum Chandan Hum Pani…’ Some of the popular stories related to the life of Raidas were presented by the artistes in storytelling style. The music was directed by Hemant Devlekar.

It was followed by discussion sessions on Sant Sahitya aur Raidas. Chandrika Prasad Chandra, Anil Tripathi and Abhishek Sharma, Urmila Shirish, Krishna Gopal Mishra and Brijendra Kumar Singhal delivered lectures on it. Shyam Sundar Dubey and Shriram Parihar presided over the sessions.

In the evening sessions, Dhrupad Jugalbandi, based on the couplets of Raidas, were presented by Jahanvi Phansalkar and Dhani Gundecha.

The second-day event ended with the performance of Gurudev Singh Veerka (Amritsar) with his troupe.

A discussion session and Ravida’s couplets to be sung by Shweta Joshi and Hemant Chavan with his troupe will be held on June 26, the concluding the day of the event. A film, Sant Ravidas ki Amar Kahani will be screened on the day.
