Maruti Suzuki has officially delivered 60 Jimny SUVs to the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), marking the model’s debut in the Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) fleet. These off-road-capable vehicles will be deployed in the challenging terrains of Leh-Ladakh and Arunachal Pradesh to support border patrol operations. The handover ceremony took place at the ITBP Headquarters in New Delhi, attended by senior officials, including Additional Director General (HQ) Abdul Ghani Mir (IPS) from ITBP and Maruti Suzuki’s Senior Executive Officer for Marketing & Sales, Partho Banerjee.

The Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) operates in some of India’s most difficult terrains, including the high-altitude Himalayan regions, where temperatures can drop to -45 degrees Celsius in winter. Patrolling through snow-covered mountains, glaciers, and rugged landscapes requires tough and reliable vehicles. The Maruti Suzuki Jimny, known for its strong off-road performance, is well-equipped to handle these extreme conditions. These newly inducted SUVs will assist ITBP personnel in border surveillance, troop movement, and other operational duties in remote and challenging areas.
