Islamabad: Amid ongoing tensions with India after the Pahalgam terror attack, Pakistan on Saturday claimed that it test fired surface-to-surface Abdali missile. The missile reportedly has 450-km range.
The video of the test-firing of Abdali missile also surfaced online. The test-firing was part of Pakistan's military exercise INDUS.
The training launch was witnessed by the Commander Army Strategic Forces Command, senior officials from the Strategic Plans Division, Army Strategic Forces Command, as well as scientists and engineers from Pakistan’s strategic organisations.
Tensions between India and Pakistan escalated after the Pahalgam terror attack in which 26 people were killed. One of the terrorists involved in the attack has been identified as Hashim Musa. He is reportedly a former commando of the Pakistan Army.
As per eyewitnesses, terrorists singled out non-Muslims and shot them dead.
Initially, Pakistan-based terrorist organisation Lashkar-e-Taiba's (LeT's) offshoot The Resistance Front (TRF) claimed responsibility for the attack. However, when the tension started to escalate between India and Pakistan, it denied its role.
After the attack, India downgraded diplomatic ties with Pakistan. New Delhi announced a slew of sanctions against Islamabad, including the suspension of Indus Waters Treaty 1960 and the closure of Attari-Wagah border.
Notably, after India's announcement to suspend the Indus Waters Treaty, Pakistani troops started violating ceasefire along the Line of Control (LoC) in Kashmir. The India Army is retaliating strongly.
