'We Are Gen Z, Won't Tolerate This': Female Tourist’s Outburst At Ladakh Minimarg Check Post Over Restricted Entry Goes Viral - WATCH
A viral video from Ladakh’s Minimarg check post shows a female tourist angrily confronting security personnel after reportedly facing a five-hour traffic delay. Saying, “We are Gen Z, and we won’t tolerate this,” she criticised the restrictions. The incident has sparked debate over tourist behaviour, patience and the need to respect security protocols at sensitive border checkpoints

A heated confrontation at the Minimarg check post in Ladakh has sparked a fresh debate over tourist conduct, security restrictions and the challenges faced by personnel managing traffic in sensitive border areas.
A video circulating widely on social media shows a female tourist angrily confronting security personnel at the checkpoint. The incident reportedly followed a delay of nearly five hours, with traffic controls and security checks causing frustration among travellers.
In the footage, the woman can be heard protesting the restrictions and raising questions over the prolonged wait. At one point, she reportedly says, “You do it to the people of Kashmir, and now you’re doing it to tourists. We are Gen Z, and we won’t tolerate this.”
In a second video going viral, the woman is also seen threatening to take this matter to the parliament.
Her remarks have since triggered strong reactions online, with viewers divided over whether the outburst reflected understandable frustration or inappropriate behaviour at a strategically sensitive location.
Five-hour wait fuels anger
According to reports accompanying the viral footage, tourists had been stuck for hours because of traffic regulation and security-related restrictions. Such controls are not unusual in Ladakh, particularly along routes close to sensitive border areas, where movement may be regulated depending on operational and security requirements.
The confrontation has nevertheless raised questions about how tourists should respond when faced with lengthy delays and restrictions.
Security, discipline and tourist conduct
The episode has also brought attention to the role of military and security personnel responsible for maintaining discipline and managing movement in the region.
Col Nikunj Dhama, the Commanding Officer of an Artillery Regiment, has been mentioned in connection with efforts to maintain law and order and discipline in Ladakh.
J&K CM Omar Abdullah reacts
Omar Abdullah, sharing a video posted by verified X handle DesiEco that purportedly shows a young woman tourist arguing with security personnel in Ladakh, warned against arrogance among Gen Z.
He drew a comparison with the older practice of young people flaunting their parents’ influence to get their way, saying such behaviour could damage the goodwill currently enjoyed by the younger generation.
"This 'we are Gen Z' has become the new 'jaantay nahin ho mera baap kaun hai'. The quickest way to erode any Gen Z goodwill is to start using it as a threat at the slightest perceived affront."
The controversy ultimately highlights a larger tension between tourist expectations and the realities of travelling through a strategically sensitive region.
