The story of Amethi's Arif Khan Gurjar and his dear bird friend, a Saras crane, is known to one and all.

The man had saved the bird when it was injured and since then the two were inseparable. The bird tagged along with Aarif wherever he went. Last month the forest department officials took away the bird from Arif and shifted to the Samaspur Bird Sanctuary in Rae Bareli so that it could live in its "natural environment".

On Tuesday a video appeared on social media wherein Arif paid a visit to his dear friend at the Kanpur Zoo and the video will melt your heart.

The bird can be seen moving frantically and running around in his enclosure as soon as he sees Arif. It is painful and joyous at the same time to witness both Arif and his bird friend who were separated after a long bond of friendship. Arif looked a little sad on seeing his friend in an enclosure and maybe for the fact that he was unable to meet him the way he used to. The Sara crane is seen jumping in happiness.

The story of Arif & Saras

Khan spotted the crane asleep with a bleeding leg in his field in the Mandkha village of the Amethi area and managed to save the bird. He took care of the bird for a year, and eventually they shared a bond with Arif and would accompany him everywhere and even eat with him.

After the crane was all better, it refused to fly away and instead used to follow Arif everywhere. The heartwarming story of friendship between man and bird came to an abrupt end after officials shifted the crane to Samaspur Bird Sanctuary in Rae Bareli.

The UP Forest Department took the bird away from Arif on March 21, and currently, the bird is quarantined at the Kanpur zoo for 15 days.
