Meerut Deploys 18 Bike Ambulances For Kanwar Yatra To Provide Quick Medical Assistance To Devotees

Meerut, August 6: Giving top priority to the safety of millions of devotees participating in the Shravan Kanwar Yatra and ensuring better healthcare facilities, the Yogi government and the Meerut district administration have introduced a high-tech medical response system. For the first time, 18 bike ambulances have been deployed along the Kanwar routes.

These ambulances can quickly navigate congested and narrow roads to reach devotees within minutes and provide first aid. Arrangements have also been made to immediately refer serious cases to larger hospitals.

Under the guidance of District Magistrate Dr. V. K. Singh, the Health Department has prepared a comprehensive medical management plan for the entire Kanwar Yatra.

According to the Health Department, six bike ambulances have been deployed from Sakoti to Mohiuddinpur. Four bike ambulances are operating between Salawa Jhal and Siwalkhas Bridge. Two bike ambulances each are continuously patrolling the routes from Dayawati Modi Academy to Begumpul, Begumpul to Partapur, Begumpul to Lohia Nagar Sabzi Mandi, and Hapur Adda to Mathura Road. Their primary objective is to reach any sick or injured Kanwariya at the earliest and provide immediate medical assistance.

During the Kanwar Yatra, heavy crowds and traffic restrictions at several locations often make it difficult for conventional ambulances to reach patients.

In such situations, bike ambulances have proved to be highly effective. Each bike is equipped with trained paramedical staff and essential life-saving medicines. As soon as information is received, the team rushes to the spot, provides first aid, and, if required, arranges for the patient to be transported by ambulance to a higher medical centre.

Chief Medical Officer Dr. Ram Prasad said, "32 health camps have been set up along the Kanwar routes, equipped with trained doctors, medicines, vaccine carriers, and essential medical equipment. In addition, beds have been reserved in 25 private hospitals across the district to ensure immediate treatment in any emergency. Adequate stocks of anti-snake venom, dog-bite injections, and all other essential medicines have also been arranged. Every Community Health Centre (CHC) located along the route has been assigned the responsibility of operating two to three medical camps."

A dedicated Health Department team is monitoring the situation 24x7 from the district control room. As soon as an alert is received through the helpline, the concerned bike ambulance and medical team are dispatched immediately. Fuel supplies and all necessary resources have been ensured in advance for every vehicle.

Prepared under the directions of the Yogi government and monitored by District Magistrate Dr. V. K. Singh, this healthcare system has emerged as a strong safety shield for devotees during the Kanwar Yatra. With its fast, accessible, and prompt medical response, the bike ambulance service has become one of the most dependable support systems for Kanwariyas.
