Prayagraj, April 3: The Allahabad High Court has expressed strong displeasure over procedural lapses by the University Grants Commission in an ongoing matter, highlighting concerns over accountability and adherence to judicial protocol.
Court flags affidavit irregularities
During the hearing, the court noted that the affidavit submitted on behalf of the UGC did not follow proper legal procedure, as it was not filed by the competent authority. The bench observed that such lapses cannot be taken lightly, especially when dealing with matters of national academic governance.
Questions over compliance with directions
The issue arose when the affidavit was reportedly not submitted directly by the UGC Secretary, raising questions about compliance with court directions. The court emphasised that affidavits must be filed by responsible officials to ensure authenticity and accountability in legal proceedings.
