Meta has launched its AI image-generation feature “Imagine Me” in India, now available on WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger, and Instagram. The tool is already available in the US and a few other countries, and it is now rolling out to users in India. The tool lets users create personalized images of themselves using just a few selfies and a simple text prompt. Designed for ease of use, this feature brings AI creativity to the fingertips of everyday users. Meta’s rollout marks a major step in making AI tools more accessible to users across India’s digital landscape.

How to Use “Imagine Me” on WhatsApp/ Facebook Messenger/ Instagram

1. Open a chat—one-on-one or group—with @Meta AI.

2. Type a prompt that begins with 'Imagine Me'. For example, write a prompt like “Imagine me as a Bollywood hero” or “Imagine me as a farmer on the moon.”

4. Upload three selfies: front, left, and right profile, when requested by the AI

5. Receive your image in seconds—options include regenerating, editing, or deleting.

5. Control settings by updating or removing your selfies, or choosing to disable the feature

6. Images come with an “Imagined with AI” watermark, ensuring transparency.

At the time of writing, the feature was spotted to be working on Facebook Messenger, but was not live on WhatsApp or Instagram yet. The rollout may be in batches, and it may be a few days before all platforms and all users receive it.

Meta’s launch aims to bring fun and creative AI to users across India, especially those in tier‑2 and tier‑3 cities, where WhatsApp usage is high. The feature builds on Meta’s Emu AI model to craft stylized images—not deepfakes—with a playful touch

By embedding AI into widely used chat apps, Meta hopes to normalize AI creativity and make it accessible for everyday users. The rollout begins on July 17, available now in India at no extra cost .
