Google has rolled out a new 'Preferred Sources' feature that lets you elevate your favourite news website in your search results for faster and more relevant updates. This new feature essentially lets users customise their news experience in Search so they can see more of the sites they love.
The new 'Preferred Sources' feature has been rolled out for users in US and India only for now. Google says that this feature allows users to stay up-to-date on the latest content from the sites they follow and subscribe to, whether it's their favorite sports blog or a local news outlet. For instance, if you do not wish to miss out on any breaking news in Mumbai or the latest important tech stories, you could add The Free Press Journal as a preferred source for news.
How to add The Free Press Journal as a preferred source on Google:
> Go to Google Search, search for something relevant. For instance, search for 'Mumbai' if you want to get the latest news about Mumbai.
> Scroll down and click on the star icon, right next to the Top Stories section.
> Type The Free Press Journal and click on the button next to it, to make it your preferred source. You can select multiple news outlets as your preferred source.
After selecting preferred sources, users will start to see more of their articles prominently displayed within Top Stories, in a dedicated 'From your sources' section on the search results page. Furthermore. users can deselect their preferred sources any time they wish to, in the same manner that they selected them.
