Acer Opens New Laptop Manufacturing Facility In Puducherry to Boost ‘Make In India’ Mission
The state-of-the-art plant, inaugurated by senior officials from the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) and the Puducherry government, has an annual production capacity of 300,000 units.

Popular Taiwan-based laptop brand Acer has expanded its Indian manufacturing footprint with the launch of a new laptop production facility in Puducherry, developed in partnership with Plumage Solutions under the Government of India’s Production Linked Incentive (PLI) Scheme for IT hardware.
The state-of-the-art plant, inaugurated by senior officials from the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) and the Puducherry government, has an annual production capacity of 300,000 units. It will manufacture laptops alongside Acer’s existing range of computer monitors, desktops, servers, workstations, and power adapters, aiming to reduce import dependence and strengthen local value addition.
The Puducherry facility is expected to generate high-skill employment and bolster supply chain efficiency, enabling Acer to deliver products to market faster and at competitive prices. The Plumage Group has committed an investment of Rs. 50 crore over the next 3–4 years to support the expansion.
"Acer's new facility reinforces our commitment to self-reliance in electronics manufacturing," said Harish Kohli, President & Managing Director, Acer India. "It will help us serve the Indian market more efficiently while aligning with the government’s vision of making India a global electronics hub."
The plant will cater to domestic demand and eventually export markets, supporting India’s ambitions in electronics manufacturing while enhancing Acer’s engagement with education, enterprise, and government sectors.
