Cody Rhodes retained his Undisputed WWE title in a thrilling match against Kevin Owens at the Saturday Night Main Event. However, the joy of retaining the title was overshadowed by a brutal attack from Owens. The prizefighter delivered a piledriver (a banned move) on the American Nightmare after the broadcast went off the air. WWE has provided an update on Rhodes health after the attack.

What injury did Cody Rhodes suffer after Kevin Owens attack?

The Stanford-based promotion company released a statement which said, "Cody Rhodes suffered cervical swelling and was kept overnight at a local hospital for observation. While X-Rays were negative for a fracture, Rhodes has been officially diagnosed with axial compression of the cervical spine, as well as a cervical strain with spasm."

Will Cody Rhodes Wrestle Again?

While WWE has just shared update on Cody Rhodes injury, there is no information about his return date. The American Nightmare was placed onto a stretcher and taken in an ambulance for further evaluation. Owens' actions drew the ire of WWE Chief Content Officer Paul "Triple H" Leveque, who confronted him before going behind the curtain. Rhodes' title defense against Owens headlined WWE's first Saturday Night's Main Event since 2008.
