Vinesh Phogat Appeal Update: CAS To Give Verdict At 9.30 PM IST Tonight After Wrestler's Demand For Joint-Silver At Paris 2024 Olympics
President of the CAS ad-hoc division has decided to extend the time limit for the panel to make their decision in the Paris Olympics controversy.

The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) will announce its verdict on the Vinesh Phogat case at 9.30 pm IST, after the president of the ad-hoc division decided to extend the time limit for the panel to make their decision in the Paris Olympics controversy.
Phogat was disqualified on the morning of her gold-medal bout in the women's 50kf freestyle wrestling and was placed last in the category.
It is being reported that the CAS ruling could come in favour of Vinesh Phogat, but the International Olympic Committee is also not ready to change their rules to give a medal to Phogat.
CAS Statement:
"By Application of Article 18 of CAS Arbritration Rules for the Olympics Games, the President of the CAS Ad Hoc Division extends the time-limit for the Panel to give a decision until 10 August 2024 at 18h00 (Paris time)," the statement from the Court read.

Phogat had tried all night to shed weight but failed to meet the mark and lost her hold on a maiden Olympic medal. The 29-year-old spent the a night in hospital due to dehydration while trying to lose weight and appealed to the CAS from there to overturn her disqualification.
She has also asked the CAS to order the International Olympic Committee to bend their rules and give her a silver medal.
Vinesh to quit wrestling
Before getting discharged from the hospital, Phogat announced her retirement from wrestling after losing the medal. But her famous uncle Mahavir Singh Phogat and his daughters have promised to convince Vinesh to rethink on her decision to quit the sport.
Vinesh Phogat had become the first-ever Indian female wrestler to reach the finals at the Olympics. She was going to be the only one from her illustrious wrestling family to win a Olympic medal but her dreams were shattered by 100gms of extra-weight.
