Video: Navdeep Saini Fakes Injury As Delhi Hang On For A Draw Against Tamil Nadu In Ranji Trophy 2024-25

Team India and Delhi speedster Navdeep Saini's antics helped their side cling to a draw in the Ranji Trophy fixture against Tamil Nadu at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. In a video surfaced on social media, the right-arm speedster was seen lying down despite the ball causing him no harm on its way to the keeper.

The incident surfaced on social media showed the bowler sending down a short-pitched delivery. After ducking it down, the 31-year-old stepped away from the batting crease and hilariously lied down as if he had sustained some serious injury.

Batting first, Tamil Nadu posted a mammoth 674/6, headlined by a century from Washington Sundar and a double-hundred from B Sai Sudharsan. Narayan Jagadeesan and C Andre Siddarth also struck half-centuries for a good measure. In response, Delhi only managed 266 in their first innings and put on a rearguard of 83 overs in their second to pull off a draw.

During a recent interview with ESPN Cricinfo, Saini spoke about plenty of things; however, an eye-catching admission was him naming Mohammed Shami as his idol. Talking about Shami's advice, he revealed:

"Shami bhai has always advised me not to bowl too full. He keeps telling me that I'm a hit-the-deck bowler, and that the ball moves [sideways] after I pitch it. He feels I should keep hitting the 6-8 metre length; that will prevent me from leaking runs, and all but assure me of wickets. I always follow Shami bhai."
