South African cricketer Matthew Breetzke has broken a 47-year-old record for scoring the most runs on ODI debut as he made a whirlwind 150 against New Zealand on Monday in the tri-series fixture at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore. Breetzke broke former West Indian opener Desmond Haynes' record when he scored 148 on debut in 1978.

He also got to 150 with a six before Matt Henry got the better of him immediately after he reached the landmark. The dressing room were inevitably buoyant by his achievement and the coach congratulated him when the 26-year-old went there after being dismissed.
New Zealand solid in reply after Matthew Breetzke carries South Africa to 305:
While the youngster scored 150, Wiaan Mulder also contributed a 60-ball 64 to take the Proteas to 304/6 in their stipulated 50 overs. Matt Henry and Will O'Rourke took two wickets each, while Michael Bracewell picked up one. Although the Kiwis lost Will Young only for 19 runs, Devon Conway and Kane Williamson have kept their side firmly on track for the chase.
The Black Caps were already riding high on confidence as they crushed Pakistan by 78 runs in the opening match in Lahore on Saturday. Glenn Phillips starred for them with an unbeaten 106 to lift them to a match-winning score of 330.
