Richa Ghosh received a rousing welcome after her touchdown in West Bengal. Ghosh played a starring role in helping India lift the Women's World Cup 2025.
Richa played crucial cameos both in the semi-final and the final. The 22-year-old hit a tournament record 12 sixes, striking at a staggering 133. Ghosh was in Delhi meeting the Indian Prime Minister and President, before arriving home on Friday.
Ghosh hails from Siliguri and the Bengal town gathered in numbers to give their champion a rousing welcome. The 21-year-old travelled around in a jeep with security as fans lined up the streets to cheer for her. The vehicle was garlanded heavily with fireworks and drums playing as she made her way through the town.
Ghosh scored 235 runs in eight innings at an average of 39.16 and a strike rate of 133.52. She scored 96 against South Africa in the league stage, and followed it up with cameos in the knockouts.
Richa Ghosh to be felicitated by Sourav Ganguly
Richa Ghosh will receive a felicitation by the Cricket Association of Bengal on Saturday. Former India captain Sourav Ganguly is reported to gift her a gold plated bat and ball. The memorabilia will include the signatures of Ganguly and former India women's captain Jhulan Goswami.
“Richa has shown remarkable talent, composure, and fighting spirit on the world stage. Honouring her with this gold bat and ball is a small token of our recognition for her extraordinary contribution to Indian cricket. She is an inspiration for every young cricketer in Bengal and across the country,” Ganguly stated in a release.
Richa is a serial winner. In her short career, the 21-year-old has a glittering trophy cabinet. Her wins include the Women’s World Cup, U-19 World Cup, Women’s Premier League title, Asian Games gold, and Commonwealth Games silver.
