Lucknow, May 7: Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) were off to a flying as their Australian opener Mitchell Marsh smashed a quick half century off just ... balls in a crucial Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 clash against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) at the Ekana Stadium in Lucknow on Thursday.
Mitchell Marsh opened the innings along with Arshin Kulkarni and smashed his fastest-ever IPL fifty off just 20 balls. LSG were cruising in the powerplay and managed to 68 runs in their first 6 overs without losing a single wicket.
Marsh smashed his fifty off 20 balls with 5 fours and 4 sixes. There are also reports that he hit a mammoth 102-metre six in the match. He has scored quickly and LSG are on the course of scoring a massive target after being invited to bat first as Ruturaj Gaikwad won the toss and elected to field first.
Rain also interrupted the game only after nine balls were bowled in the innings. The ground staff rushed with the covers and the players ran inside for covers. However, the rain stopped within 10 minutes and the game resumed. Mitchell Marsh did not lose his touch and smashed the ball all over the park.
Mitchell Marsh has crossed the highest score by a LSG batter in the IPL 2026 season as he surpassed captain Rishabh Pant who scored 68 runs and the Marsh has already scored 75 runs.
