Team India batter Yashasvi Jaiswal's bat handle snapped on day one of the fourth Test against England at Old Trafford in Manchester. The bat handle snapped due to the extra bounce as the left-handed batter played a defensive shot off the bowling of Chris Woakes, forcing him to call for a replacement one.
The incident came in the ninth over of the innings as the Warwickshire seamer came in from around the wicket. With the 23-year-old going on the back foot to defend the ball, the bat handle snapped, leaving Jaiswal confused. Karun Nair, who was benched for this series, came in with four replacement bats, bringing in four of them.

Jaiswal, meanwhile, started the series with a hundred in the first innings at Headingley, followed by a brisk 87 in the opening dig at Edgbaston. However, he departed cheaply in both the innings at Lord's, perishing twice to Jofra Archer.
England captain Ben Stokes had won for the fourth consecutive time, opting to to bowl first in the overcast conditions of Old Trafford in Manchester. Although England had already announced their playing XI, India have surprisingly affected three changes to their side. B Sai Sudharsan, Anshul Kamboj and Shardul Thakur have come in for Karun Nair, Akash Deep and Nitish Kumar Reddy.

Jaiswal and KL Rahul have started solidly under tricky batting conditions at Old Trafford, nearing a 50-run stand. India are trailing the five-Test series 2-1 after a nervy 22-run defeat at Lord's. The Asian Giants are also yet to win a Test in Manchester.
