Giles Shield: Om Lokhande Shines As Dnyandeep Seva Mandal Skittled Out

Medium pacer Om Lokhande was the star of the show with his brilliant bowling.

Winning the toss and electing to bat first, Dnyandeep Seva Mandal were bundled out within no time by Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Vidyalaya in the 123rd Giles Shield Final. They were 67 all out in 33.5 overs. Medium pacer Om Lokhande was the star of the show with his brilliant bowling. He snapped up a seven-wicket haul, (7-29) in 12 overs.

Advit Tiwari grabbed (3-9) in 8.5 overs. Om stuck to his game plan, keeping things simple in the middle and was thus rewarded with heaps of wickets. In reply, Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar made 97-6 in 47 overs at stumps on day 1. Umaik Nadeem and and Mohammad Ali picked two wickets apiece.

The final of the MSSA organised 123rd Giles Shield Cricket Tournament opening ceremony and toss took place at the iconic venue-Mumbai Cricket Association, BKC.

Former India cricketer Paras Mhambrey graced the occasion as Chief Guest while former India women’s cricketer Behroze Edulji, former Mumbai Cricketer and CIC Member- Sahil Kukreja and ex-cricketer and India’s best Caricaturist Austin Coutinho were Guests of Honour.

MCA Apex Council Members, selectors and other esteemed dignitaries attended the same. The final is being played between Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Vidyalaya and Dnyandeep Seva Mandal. For the very first time in the history of the tournament SG Balls are being used in every game. The final is of 80-80, 40-40 overs format.
