Splendid batting performances from Advit Tiwari and Sammit Kothmire helped Dr Babasaheb Ambekar Vidyalaya post a healthy 221 in 71.4 overs in the MSSA Giles Shield under-14 tournament at the Parsee Gymkhana in Mumbai.
Tiwari struck 72 with seven fours and left-handed batter Kothmire slammed 61 with seven boundaries as well.
It ensured their side put up a fighting total on the board. Both batters took their chances in the middle and rebuilding their innings.
Advait and Sammit stood like a rock for their side, after they were reduced to 64-5 at one stage in the contest. Amongst the bowlers, left arm spinner Advait Joshi bowled a brilliant spell and snapped up (4-64) in 21 overs. Medh Daiya also picked three wickets. Coming out to bat, RR Education Trust were 29-2 in 12 overs at the end of day 1. Off spinner Aayush Chavan picked (2-6) in his 6 overs spell.
The toss of semi-final 1 was conducted by MSSA Cricket Secretary Nadim Memon. MSSA Cricket Committee team members along with parents of the young cricketers also graced the occasion to showcase their support on 27th January 2024 at the iconic Parsee Gymkhana in Mumbai.
The second semifinal will be played between Dnyandeep Seva Mandal and General Education Academy will take place on 28th, 29th, and 30th January 2025 at Bombay Gymkhana.
