Netizens have brutally trolled Pakistan and Bangladesh after New Zealand's five-wicket win in Rawalpindi on Monday eliminated both teams from the Champions Trophy 2025. With Bangladesh and Pakistan winless thus far in the tournament and their hopes of sneaking into the semi-finals dashed, netizens have mentioned how both West and East are out.
Bangladesh headed to Rawalpindi to face New Zealand with a hope of keeping their campaign alive. A win for the Tigers would also have helped Pakistan stay alive, given they have already suffered two defeats. Nevertheless, the Kiwis restricted Bangladesh to 236, with only Najmul Hossain Shanto making a solid 77 from 110 deliveries. However, Rachin Ravindra followed it up with a well-constructed ton to take their side home with five wickets to spare.
Although Pakistan and Bangladesh will face one another in their last group game, it will be an inconsequential fixture.
Here's how the netizens have reacted to Pakistan and Bangladesh getting knocked out:
"It's a pretty good wicket" - Najmul Hossain Shanto
Bangladesh captain Shanto admitted that they should have done better with the bat as it was a decent wicket and that they slumped after the first ten overs. He said at the post-match presentation:
"I thought we started well with the bat but we lost wickets in the middle. On this pitch we didn't bat well. It's a pretty good wicket. we just needed two big partnerships. It was disappointing after the ten-over performance. We should've carried on."
