In a major security scare, Cristiano Ronaldo was unexpectedly grabbed by a pitch invader during Portugal’s warm-up ahead of their Nations League semi-final clash against Germany at the Allianz Arena.
The 40-year-old football icon looked visibly startled as a young male fan managed to break through security and wrap his arms around Ronaldo. Stewards scrambled onto the pitch in a frantic effort to intervene, with two officials initially restraining the fan.
Despite the chaos, Ronaldo remained composed. In a moment of calm, he extended his arm toward the fan, appearing to de-escalate the situation before security could take full control. The intruder was eventually tackled by four stewards and forcibly removed from the pitch.
This incident raises further questions about venue security, coming just days after PSG fans stormed the same stadium following their Champions League final win, causing damage by tearing up turf and dismantling goalposts.
Ronaldo Fires Portugal into Nations League Final with Comeback Win Over Germany
Cristiano Ronaldo was once again the hero as Portugal staged a thrilling comeback to defeat Germany 2-1 and secure their spot in the UEFA Nations League final.
Trailing 1-0 early in the second half, Portugal turned the tide with two quick goals first from Francisco Conceição, followed by the decisive strike from Ronaldo, who notched his 137th international goal.
The 40-year-old forward struck in the 68th minute, calmly tapping in Nuno Mendes’ low cross to complete the turnaround and silence the home crowd at Allianz Arena.
Germany had taken the lead in the 48th minute through Florian Wirtz, who headed home a lofted ball from Joshua Kimmich, making his 100th international appearance. Wirtz’s goal came amid reports of a potential £109 million transfer to Premier League champions Liverpool.
But Portugal, winners of the inaugural Nations League in 2019, showed their resilience and will now have a shot at becoming the first nation to win the competition twice. They will face either France or Spain in the final on June 8.
