'Creates Namaz Group On Whatsapp, Restricts Non-Muslims': Imam-ul-Haq On Mohammad Rizwan’s Religious Practices In Pakistan Team; Video

Pakistan opener Imam-ul-Haq has shared intriguing insights into captain Mohammad Rizwan’s leadership style, shedding light on some of his habits off the field. Ahead of the Champions Trophy 2025, Imam was invited as guest on the Ultra Edge podcast. During the episode he asked about leadership dynamics in the Pakistan dressing room. The opener burst into laughter “Who shall I name as a leader? Sare ladh rahe hai aapas mein (Everyone’s fighting among themselves).

He later pointed towards Rizwan, saying, “Rizzi (Rizwan) arranges hotel rooms to pray, gathers everyone for prayers, lays out white sheets for Namaz, restricts non-Muslims from entering, and even creates WhatsApp groups for prayer schedules.”

The video has emerged on social media at a time when Pakistan cricket is facing heavy criticism following their disastrous Champions Trophy campaign, where they crashed out in the group stage after defeats to India and New Zealand.

Pakistan to play for pride against Bangladesh

Following a disastrous outing in the first two matches, Pakistan team will want to end the tournament with a win over Bangladesh. Rizwan scored a laboured 46 off 77 balls, but could not help Pakistan beat India in Dubai. Bangladesh's loss to New Zealand was the final nail on the coffin.

With Pakistan cricket at a crossroads after the exit, questions linger over whether Rizwan is as active in leading the team on the field. As per rumours, PCB is scrambling to appoint a new coaching staff to turn things around .  

While questions have been raised about Rizwan's captaincy , the wicketkeeper batsman would like to bring smiles on the faces of fans.
