BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia has dismissed rumors that India would not display the name "Pakistan" on their jerseys ahead of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. Earlier, reports suggested that the BCCI would avoid using the host country's name on their uniforms, which would violate ICC rules.
Speaking to media, the BCCI secretary said,“BCCI to follow every uniform-related ICC rule during Champions trophy. Whatever the other teams will do regarding the logo and dress code, we are going to follow in true letter and spirit,”.
The ICC’s dress code rules mandate all participating teams of a global tournament to print the logo of the competition on their kits. These logos also include the name of the hosts and Pakistan are the main hosts of the Champions Trophy 2025.
Earlier, a PCB official criticised the BCCI for allegedly mixing politics with cricket, referencing India's refusal to travel to Pakistan and the initial rumors about the jersey controversy. Speaking to IANS the official expressed confidence that the ICC would ensure its rules are followed.
He said, "BCCI is bringing politics into cricket, which is not at all good for the game. They refused to travel Pakistan. Now there are reports that they don't want host nation (Pakistan) name printed on their jersey. We believe that the world governing body (ICC) will not let this happen and support Pakistan"
