Asian Games 2023: Team India Debutant R Sai Kishore Spotted Crying During National Anthem (Watch)

Indian spinner Ravisrinivasan Sai Kishore grew hugely emotional ahead of his much-awaited international debut as he was spotted crying during the national anthem ahead of the Asian Games 2023 quarter-final against Nepal. However, the left-arm spinner enjoyed a decent debut as India outgunned Nepal to march to the semi-finals of the event.

The youngster has been one of the best spinners in the Indian domestic circuit and while he was included in several India's squads before, he couldn't break into the playing XI. In 50 T20s, the 26-year-old has taken 58 scalps at 17.05. Hence, the long vigil of finally earning the India cap would have brought the rookie spinner in tears.

Meanwhile, Team India overcame a spirited run-chase from Nepal even as they were set 213 to chase down in their stipulated 20 overs. The opening partnership of 103 between Yashasvi Jaiswal and Ruturaj Gaikwad set up a total of 202 in 20 overs. Jaiswal top-scored with 100 off 49 deliveries, while Rinku Singh gave the finishing touches with a 15-ball 37.

With the ball, Ravi Bishnoi and Avesh Khan finished with three wickets each. As far as Sai Kishore goes, he dismissed Kushal Bhurtel as he looked to paddle the delivery to the fine leg region, but failed to get full connection. Nepal eventually fell short by 23 runs, allowing India to go through to the semi-finals.
