Videos of what is being called the Cherry Blossom in Nashik's Gangapur area recently went viral, captivating Nashikkars. However, these flowers are not Japanese cherry blossoms. The pale pink blossoms against a blue spring sky are a vision to behold. Nature lovers are admiring the Gliricidia sepium trees in full bloom, resembling the famed sakura.

While the videos referred to them as cherry blossoms, the pink trumpet tree (Tabebuia rosea), which is native to South America rather than Japan, is sometimes confused with cherry blossoms due to its trumpet-shaped flowers and longer flowering season.

So, these trees are either Gliricidia sepium (gliricidia) or Tabebuia rosea (pink trumpet tree).
