Pune City was battered by heavy rainfall on Thursday afternoon, with several areas, including Kondhwa, Uttamnagar and Hadapsar, experiencing near cloud-burst-like conditions. This led to the disruption of daily life and traffic movement.
According to the data, extremely high precipitation was recorded within just one hour across various locations in the city. Khadakwasla reported 99 mm of rainfall, followed by Sinhagad Road at 94.8 mm and Bibvewadi at 7 mm.

Other areas also witnessed substantial showers, including Kothrud at 64.8 mm, Warje at 56.4 mm, Wanwadi at 53.2 mm, Shivajinagar at 48.4 mm, Dhole Patil Road at 48.2 mm and Hadapsar at 36.4 mm.
The sudden and intense downpour led to waterlogging in several areas, causing inconvenience to commuters. In some parts, vehicles were seen navigating through submerged roads. Videos of vehicles stranded in submerged roads have gone viral on social media.
Meanwhile, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) had already forecast thunderstorms in several parts of Maharashtra, except Mumbai, on Thursday and Friday.
An orange alert was issued for Nandurbar, Dhule, Jalgaon, Nashik, Ahilyanagar, Beed, Jalna, Pune and Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar on Thursday. Whereas, a yellow alert was issued for the entire Vidarbha region, western Maharashtra and Konkan, except for Palghar, Mumbai, Sindhudurg and Kolhapur.
For Friday, an orange alert has been issued for Parbhani and Hingoli, while Jalgaon, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Ahilyanagar, Beed and Jalna also remain under the same category. Dhule, Nashik, Pune, Solapur and several districts in Marathwada and Vidarbha have been placed under a yellow alert.
The IMD grades the severity of any weather system through colour-coded alerts - green (no warning), yellow (be aware), orange (be prepared) and red (take action).
