The Maharashtra Kesari Wrestling Tournament (Maharashtra Kesari 2025) saw a ruckus followed by arguments on the mat on Sunday. Nanded-based wrestler Shivraj Rakshe, who was declared defeated in the final match of the Gadi division, refused to accept the umpire's decision. The matches were held in Ahilyanagar on Sunday.

In a heated moment, Rakshe grabbed the umpire’s collar and kicked him, causing a disturbance on the wrestling field. The police intervened immediately, escorting Rakshe and his team off the field. As a result, both Shivraj Rakshe and Mahendra Gaikwad were suspended for three years.

The tension escalated further during the match’s final minutes.

Pruthviraj Mohol wins the game

Mahendra Gaikwad received a warning from the umpire, and Pruthviraj Mohol, showing quick reflexes, forcefully took Gaikwad out of the ring, earning a point. Gaikwad and his team objected to the point, but with just 16 seconds left in the match, Mohol was leading 2-1. Gaikwad then left the mat in protest, never returning. As a result, Pruthviraj Mohol was awarded the Maharashtra Kesari title.

After the match, Gaikwad’s supporters created a commotion, leading to a lathicharge by the police.

Pruthviraj Mohol, who was crowned Maharashtra Kesari, received a prestigious silver mace and a Mahindra Thar car. Mohol, the fourth-generation wrestler in his family, expressed his happiness in fulfilling his father’s dream.
