A major fire broke out at Phoenix Mall in Pune's Viman Nagar area on Friday afternoon.

According to the recent update shared by a Fire Brigade official, five fire tenders, two water tankers, and a Bronto vehicle were dispatched by the fire brigade upon receiving a report of a fire at Phoenix Mall on Nagar Road.
The incident took place at 3:15pm.
"The fire broke out in a restaurant on the third floor of the mall, causing heavy smoke. The said restaurant was completely closed after the COVID-19 pandemic. Additionally, the fire extinguisher in the mall was up to date and operational," he added.
The firefighters immediately brought the fire under control, averting danger. He also informed that efforts are underway to douse the fire while continuing the cooling operation.
Fortunately, the prompt response of the fire brigade prevented a major accident, and there were no injuries or fatalities. The exact cause of the fire is still unknown. About 40-50 jawans and 6 fire officers are on duty.
