In a shocking incident, a 50-year-old man died by suicide after jumping onto the tracks at Pune Railway Station on Saturday, officials said.
The incident took place on the track at platform number 1 of Pune Railway Station at around 11am, they added.
The Government Railway Police (GRP) is investigating the matter. However, no details about the deceased have come to light, as he was not carrying any identification documents.

The incidents of suicide at railway stations under the Pune Division are increasing. According to official data, the Pune Division registered a total of 110 suicides, including four cases at Pune Railway Station, over the past four years. In the first ten months of 2024 alone, 50 people have lost their lives. Three cases were registered in 2021, 27 cases in 2022 and 30 cases in 2023.
Last year, a 50-year-old man and a 27-year-old woman, both from Kalburgi district in Karnataka, died by suicide by jumping in front of a train at Pune Railway Station on October 22. The incident occurred on the track near platform number four around 7:30am. The two suddenly jumped in front of a moving train and were killed instantly.
