Pune: A major mishap was reported near Hotel Kapila on Dhole Patil Road on Wednesday afternoon when a portion of a slab collapsed during ongoing renovation work. This incident left two individuals trapped underneath. The incident, which occurred around noon, triggered panic among onlookers and brought traffic in the vicinity to a halt.

As soon as authorities were alerted that people were buried under the rubble, three fire brigade units rushed to the location. Rescue personnel immediately began clearing the debris and were able to retrieve one of the trapped individuals. The victim, who had suffered severe injuries, was quickly transported to a nearby hospital by ambulance. Early reports suggest that his condition remains extremely critical.
Meanwhile, the second person was stuck under the collapsed structure for even more time. Firefighters conducted intensive rescue operations in an effort to reach and save him.
Two labourers were injured in this slab collapsed and buried them during renovation work near a hotel close to Ruby Hall Clinic on Dhole Patil Road on Wednesday, around 1:05 pm.
After receiving the alert, teams from Naidu Fire Station, Kasba Fire Station, and a rescue van from the headquarters reached the location within minutes.

Using spreaders, cutters, and air-lifting bags, firefighters successfully lifted the collapsed slab and rescued the trapped workers. They were identified as Sachin Chavan and Krishna, both residents of Yerawada.
According to Devendra Potphode, Chief Fire Officer, PMC, both labourers were immediately shifted to a nearby hospital and are now reported to be in stable condition. Officials said a timely response and the effective use of rescue equipment were crucial in saving their lives.
The operation was led by Fire Officers Vijay Bhilare, Prabhakar Umratkar, and Prashant Gaikar. Vehicle drivers Raju Owal, Aniket Owal, and Akash Dubale, along with team members Bhausaheb Chormale (Tandel), Sandeep Randive, Bhalchandra Gawhankar, Ganesh More, Alpesh Konde, Nawanath Shedge, Ganesh Lonare, Suresh Pawar, Pratik Kumbhar, and Mayur Chavan, played key roles in the rescue operation.
