Pimpri-Chinchwad: The issue of pending property tax dues of the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) central public relations office in Pimpri-Chinchwad has been resolved after the outstanding amount was paid to the municipal corporation on Tuesday (31st March).

The payment came soon after a news report highlighted the pending dues, prompting swift action from the ruling party. Officials confirmed that the arrears were cleared within the deadline set by the civic administration.

The matter had recently come to light when it was found that the property tax for the office had not been paid for a significant period. Initial information suggested that the delay was linked to technical issues in the municipal corporation’s tax collection system.

BJP Pimpri-Chinchwad City president Shatrughan Kate clarified that the delay was not intentional. He said the office did not receive the tax receipt on time due to issues in the distribution system handled by private agencies. According to him, the payment was made immediately after the administration issued a notice.

Kate stated that the party acted promptly and ensured that the entire outstanding amount was cleared before the 31st March deadline. He added that the situation was resolved as soon as it was brought to their attention.

Questions Raised On Efficiency Of PCMC...

However, the incident has raised concerns about the efficiency of the municipal corporation’s tax collection process. Questions are being asked about how the civic body failed to deliver tax receipts to a prominent office for nearly three years.

The municipal corporation uses private agencies to distribute property tax bills across the city. This case has highlighted possible gaps in that system, especially in ensuring the timely delivery of notices and receipts.

Civic officials have not yet issued a detailed response on the lapse, but the development has sparked discussion on improving accountability and streamlining the tax collection mechanism to avoid such issues in the future.
