Pune: Engineering Student Dies After Falling From PMPML Bus, Run Over by School Bus

Pune: A college student died after falling from a crowded PMPML bus and coming under the wheels of a school bus on Sinhagad Road near Hotel Brahma in the Manikbaug area on Monday morning.

The incident took place at around 10.30 am when the student was travelling on the Khanapur-Swargate PMPML route. According to preliminary information, the bus was heavily crowded, and the young woman reportedly lost her balance while trying to board the bus.

She fell onto the road as the bus was moving. At the same time, a school bus coming from behind ran over her, causing critical injuries.

The woman, reportedly a second-year engineering student from Rajasthan, was rushed to a nearby hospital. However, doctors declared her dead on arrival.

The incident has raised concerns over overcrowding in public buses and the safety of passengers trying to board or alight from buses during peak hours. The accident also caused panic among commuters and residents in the area.

Police have begun investigating the circumstances leading to the accident. Further details regarding the identity of the deceased and the vehicles involved are awaited.
