Pune: A family dispute between a husband and wife allegedly turned violent after a firing incident in the Faraskhana area of Pune on Monday morning. A 30-year-old man was injured in the incident.
The injured man has been identified as Abhijit Shankar Shingote. He suffered a bullet wound near his shoulder and was admitted to a hospital. His condition is reported to be stable. The incident took place around 10.30 am at a house near Kal Bhairavnath Mandir in Kasba Peth, within the jurisdiction of Faraskhana Police Station.
Couple allegedly had argument…
According to police, Shingote, who runs a mobile repair shop, had an argument with his wife at their residence. The couple reportedly had disputes related to divorce and other family matters.
Police said only the husband and wife were reportedly present at the house when the incident took place.
After receiving information about the firing, police reached the spot. However, neither Shingote nor his wife was present, as both had reportedly gone to a hospital.
Police later found blood stains inside the house. A pistol and a cartridge were also recovered from the spot.
Police probe source of firearm…
Police are investigating how the firing took place and who fired the weapon. Officers are also trying to establish why the pistol was brought to the house and how the couple obtained it.
The source and ownership of the firearm are also being investigated.
Faraskhana Senior Police Inspector Sandeep Deshmane told the Free Press Journal that the incident occurred around 10.30 am.
“The couple have disputes over divorce and other family matters. How the victim was injured and where they got the gun from are part of the investigation,” Deshmane said.

Police have collected evidence from the scene and are examining CCTV footage from the surrounding area.
Investigators are also gathering information about the people who visited the hospital after the incident. The police are trying to establish the sequence of events before and after the firing.
