Despite Pune Police's claims of consistently cracking down on traffic violators, the reality on the ground tells a different story. It seems that the public largely disregards the rules and continues to behave as they please. A video of one such incident has gone viral on social media.
As seen in the video, a youth, allegedly under the influence of alcohol, driving a BMW, got out of the car at a traffic signal in Yerawada's Shastrinagar, to urinate at the divider. When locals confronted him, the youth exposed himself to them and then sped off. Another youth in the car, seated beside him, was seen holding a liquor bottle.
Following the uproar on social media, the police checked the CCTV footage and found out the number plate of the high-end car. "The vehicle is registered in the name of Manoj Ahuja, a restaurant owner in the city. The accused driver has been identified as his son, Gaurav Ahuja. The incident took place at 7:30am on Saturday. A case has been registered against Gaurav and another youth seated beside him in the car. We have sent a police team to find them and take them into custody. They were last seen going towards Wagholi," an official said.
The accused driver's parents were called to the police station. Speaking to the media, Manoj Ahuja said he was ashamed of his son's behaviour. "I am ashamed that he is my son. I will accept whatever action will be taken against me. My son's mobile phone has been switched off since morning. We are also searching for him," he said.

Meanwhile, activist Vijay Kumbhar shared the video on X (formerly Twitter) and wrote, "The spoiled, drunk sons of wealthy families in Pune have turned the city into their personal playground of terror. Armed with their father's wealth and influence, they believe they are above the law — driving recklessly in luxury cars, intimidating ordinary citizens, and creating public nuisance without any fear of consequences."
"Their mindset? 'We can do whatever we want. Our money can buy us freedom. The law is our servant.' And why not? Time and again, whenever these brats commit crimes — whether it's killing people in accidents, molesting women, or creating chaos — influential politicians and their powerful families ensure the cases are either buried or slowed down until public outrage fades. The result? Their arrogance and lawlessness keep growing, and innocent lives keep getting destroyed. Pune is no longer safe because the law has two faces — one for the rich and one for the common man," he continued.

"This is not just a breakdown of law and order — it's a clear display of how money and political connections can turn criminals into 'untouchables.' The real question is — how many more lives will be destroyed before the system wakes up? Or will it ever?" Kumbhar added.
He further called on the police to arrest them and cancel their licenses.
