Pune: Nationalist Congress Party – Sharadchandra Pawar (NCP-SP) chief Sharad Pawar and his wife Pratibha Pawar on Wednesday, February 4, visited the residence of former Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar at Sahyog Society in Baramati, in the presence of Sunetra Pawar and two sons, Parth and Jay. Their visit came just days after Sunetra Pawar took oath as Maharashtra deputy chief Minister following Ajit Dada's death in the Baramati plane crash.

Not just this, the visit to his late nephew's house also came after a closed-door meeting was reportedly held between Pawar and Ajit Dada's sons Parth and Jay in Baramati today, sources said, as reported by PTI. The meeting, which was held on the premises of Vidya Pratishthan, lasted about one and a half hours.

Though there was no immediate official word on the agenda, the discussions might have centred on the possible merger of the two NCP factions and the upcoming Zila Parishad elections, sources added.

Earlier today, Sharad Pawar also released a statement in which he expressed happiness over Sunetra Pawar stepping into Ajit Pawar’s shoes and taking over as Maharashtra’s Deputy Chief Minister. The NCP-SP Supremo also spoke about the merger of the two NCP factions and said that the discussions were held between Ajit Pawar and Jayant Patil, and not with Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, adding that, "What right did he have to talk about it?"

He also added that at present, the family and party's entire focus is on taking care of everyone and moving forward together with those who are grieving. "As of now, there is no discussion at all about any political decisions,” he added.
