Mahesh Vishnupant Kothe, the former Mayor of the Municipal Corporation and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader, passed away from a heart attack in Prayagraj in Uttar Pradesh as he was attending Maha Kumbh on Tuesday morning. His sudden demise has left the city in deep mourning.

His close relatives confirmed that he passed away. As soon as the news of Mahesh Kothe's death spread, a wave of grief engulfed Solapur. A large crowd of workers gathered at Kothe's house in Murarji Peth. Mahesh Kothe was known as a prominent leader who had a significant influence on the politics of Solapur Municipal Corporation. He also served as the head of the Padmashaali Gnyathi Sanstha. In the assembly elections, he contested from the City North assembly constituency. Leaders from all parties expressed their condolences over the loss of this prominent leader in the city's politics.
