Education Officer Nabbed In Dhule While Accepting Rs 10k Bribe To Conceal Low Student Attendance

An education extension officer in Dhule’s Zilla Parishad education department has been arrested for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000 on Tuesday. The bribe was in exchange for not submitting an adverse report of the school to the senior officers. 

ZP’s Education Officer Rohini Nandre visited the Zilla Parishad primary school in Dhule’s Chande village for inspection. Following the visit it was found that the number of students there was low. 

The release of grant is aligned to the basic criteria of student’s attendance under the Samagra Shiksha Yojana, the officer’s report details are of utmost importance and can decide the school’s fate.

So on a condition of not submitting a report citing low attendance to the superiors which could exclude the school from grant under the Samagra Shiksha Yojana, Rohini Nandre demanded a bribe of Rs 10,000 for herself and the education officer Kuwar. 

After the complainant appealed to the Anti-Corruption Department, the department laid a trap and caught Nandre red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000. This action has created a stir in the education sector including the Zilla Parishad.
