The deceased has been identified as Nitin Sonaji Sankpal (35, Rajnagar, Mukundwadi), while the injured are his brother Sachin Sonaji Sankpal and friend Datta Balaji Jadhav

Three persons were stabbed in the Mukundwadi area over petty reasons on Thursday at around 8:30pm. One of them died, while the other two are seriously injured. The deceased has been identified as Nitin Sonaji Sankpal (35, Rajnagar, Mukundwadi), while the injured are his brother Sachin Sonaji Sankpal and friend Datta Balaji Jadhav.
According to the details, Nitin’s elder brother Sachin lives in Pune and had come to the city a few days ago. On Thursday, Nitin and Sachin decided to have dinner at a hotel near the crematorium in the Mukundwadi area. After having dinner, they came out of the hotel and were chatting when they met their friend Datta. While the three were chatting, they had a quarrel with Sameer Shaikh (a resident of Misarwadi), who worked in the hotel. During the quarrel, a worker from Qureshi Chicken Shop, Mastan Qureshi alias Nanna (25), saw the argument and came out of the shop with a sharp koyta. He stabbed all three persons with the koyta several times.
Nitin, Sachin and Datta were seriously injured. Nanna then fled the scene. Nearby residents asked several vehicle owners on the road to take the injured to the hospital, but they refused. Hence, there was a delay in taking the injured to the hospital. Finally, they were rushed to the District Civil Hospital, where doctors declared Nitin dead. The two others are undergoing treatment. Nitin sustained deep injuries to his head and chest.
Police Inspector Gajanan Kalyankar, API Bharat Pachole, Ravi Gacche, and Sandeep Salunke, on receiving the information, immediately rushed to the spot, but Nanna had fled by then. The police team launched a search for the accused Nanna and his friend Sameer. Nanna was arrested from the Sai Tekdi area while he was planning to flee after meeting his family at midnight. Sameer was arrested at his home in Misarwadi.
