The work on the under tunnel below the railway track connecting Shivajinagar and Beed By-pass area has been closed for the past one and a half years. The residents are facing severe inconvenience as they have to travel a long distance to enter either Shivajinagar or the Beed By-pass area. A severe traffic jam is also witnessed every day at the Shahnoormia Dargah due to the closed tunnel. The residents are now fed up and have given the ultimatum that they will use the tunnel from Monday onwards. The residents' action committee of the Beed By-pass area has also threatened to launch a severe agitation to open the tunnel at the earliest.
Around five lakh residents of Deolai, Satara, and other parts of the Beed By-pass area have to come to the city for their routine work every day. The work on the Shivajinagar tunnel was started on October 15, 2023, and it was expected that it would be completed within a few months.

The residents were happy that they would not have to wait at the railway gate for passing trains anymore, and for that, they were ready to bear the inconvenience for the next few months. However, the work has not been completed even after one and a half years. The residents have to travel around eight kilometers to enter the city. The work was delayed due to the shifting of the drainage line by the municipal corporation, electric poles by the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Ltd (MSEDCL), and boxes by the railway department.
