Pune: Several parts of Pune will face a disruption in water supply on Thursday (August 27) as the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) carries out maintenance and related electrical and pumping works at various facilities under the Parvati Water Purification Centre.
According to PMC, the work will begin at 11pm on Wednesday (August 26) and continue until 11pm on Thursday (August 27). As a result, water supply to several areas connected to the affected water tanks and pumping stations will be disrupted.
The PMC has appealed to residents in the affected areas to take note of the shutdown and make arrangements for sufficient water in advance. The civic body has also warned that water supply may remain low or irregular on Friday morning, depending on the completion of the maintenance work.
The areas set to be affected include parts of Sahakarnagar, Padmavati, Bibwewadi, Mukundnagar, Maharshinagar, Gangadham, Chintamani Nagar, Lake Town, Upper and Lower Indiranagar, Lohianagar, Yerawada, Khadki, Aundh, Bopodi, Pune University area, Shivajinagar, Model Colony and Senapati Bapat Road.
Several localities in Kothrud, Karve Road, Paud Road, Pashan, Sus, Warje and surrounding areas are also included in the PMC's list of affected areas. The detailed list covers areas supplied through the Parvati, Bhama Askhed, SNDT, Chaturshringi, Gandhi Bhavan, Pashan-Sus, Chunabhatti, GSR and Warje water-supply zones.
The civic administration has urged citizens to store adequate water before the shutdown and use it judiciously during the period of disruption.
The PMC said the maintenance work is necessary to ensure the proper functioning of the city's water-supply infrastructure. Residents have been advised to plan their water requirements accordingly to avoid inconvenience during the shutdown.
