Ulhasnagar Municipal Corporation Demolishes 12 Illegal Shops In Camp 5 During Encroachment Crackdown

The Ulhasnagar Municipal Corporation (UMC) started a demolition drive in Ulhasnagar and demolished 12 shops located in Camp 5 in Tanaji Nagar on Monday, officials said.

According to the civic body, they informed the local police for security during the demolition drive. With police assistance, the Encroachment Department successfully demolished the 12 illegal shops. UMC has launched a special drive to remove unauthorized constructions and structures.

Civic officials said they had issued notices to the shop owners, asking them to provide documents proving legal permission for the structures. However, they failed to do so, leading to Monday’s demolition.
Ganesh Shimpi, Assistant Municipal Commissioner, said, "We received complaints about these under-construction shops. We issued notices asking them to provide relevant documents, but they failed to comply. Subsequently, along with a team of ten officials, we proceeded with the demolition."
