Mumbai: A special Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) court on Thursday remanded all 11 accused persons in connection with the firing incident involving Bollywood actor Tiger Shroff to Mumbai Crime Branch custody until November 7.
The Mumbai Crime Branch is investigating the alleged conspiracy behind the attack and tracing the weapons supply network, including the suspected procurement of a pistol and ammunition from Amritsar.
Tiger Shroff Narrowly Escaped October 18 Attack
The incident occurred on October 18, when two accused allegedly opened fire at Shroff's car in Mumbai's Juhu area. The actor narrowly escaped the attack, while his driver and a bystander sustained the injuries.
Following the incident, the Mumbai Crime Branch launched an investigation into the alleged conspiracy and arrested 11 accused in connection with the case.
Crime Branch Probes ₹2.50 Lakh Pistol Deal
Investigators are examining the alleged purchase of a Zigana pistol and 20 rounds of ammunition from Amritsar for Rs 2.50 lakh.
The investigation has indicated that three accused, identified as Kunal, Sumit and Jatin, allegedly travelled to Amritsar on the instructions of Anil Pandit, a suspected US-based operative of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang who claimed responsibility for the attack.
The trio reportedly collected the pistol and ammunition from an unidentified location and left the payment at the same spot. Investigators are now attempting to identify the person who allegedly supplied the firearm and ammunition.
The alleged procurement of the weapon has emerged as a key aspect of the Crime Branch investigation. The investigation is expected to establish how the weapon was procured, transported and allegedly delivered to those involved in the firing.
Lawrence Bishnoi's Lawyer Denies Involvement
Meanwhile, Lawrence Bishnoi's lawyer, Kuldeep Sharma, has denied allegations that the jailed gangster ordered the attack on Tiger Shroff.
Sharma argued that actions committed by individuals allegedly associated with a gang should not automatically be attributed to its leader.
He maintained that Bishnoi had no involvement in the firing incident as he is currently lodged in Sabarmati prison since 2023 under extremely tight security.
Further details regarding the investigation are awaited.
