Thane News: MSRTC Bus En Route Satara Gets Into Accident Near Viviana Mall, 2 Severely Injured; Visuals Surface

Thane: A Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) bus rammed into a container near Viviana Mall in Thane on Saturday at around 6am, resulting in injuries to the bus conductor and a woman passenger. 

According to Regional disaster management cell (RDMC) Thane chief Yasin Tadvi, the bus was on its way to Borivali from Thane, and was carrying 5 male and 4 female passengers at the time of the accident. 

2 sustain leg fractures

A 41-year-old female passenger from Dombivli, Geeta Kadam, and a 38-year-old bus conductor from Bhandup, Amar Parab, sustained leg fractures in the accident and were admitted to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Hospital in Kalwa for treatment. The other passengers were unharmed and went to their respective homes after leaving the incident site. The front portion of the bus sustained extensive damage, as confirmed by Vilas Rathod, the MSRTC Thane division controller.

The disaster management cell team and Kapurbawdi police personnel arrived at the scene soon after the accident was reported. The traffic flow was affected for about an hour with only one lane in function, but the situation was later brought under control. The driver of the Ashok Leyland container involved in the accident fled the scene but is expected to be arrested soon. The Kapurbawdi police are investigating the case further.
