Thane Municipal Corporation Demolishes 33 Unauthorised Structures Across City Following Bombay HC Directive

Thane: The Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) has initiated a demolition drive targeting 33 unauthorised constructions across the city, in compliance with a recent directive from the High Court. The action includes the razed of entire buildings, as well as illegal plinths, columns, slabs, and additional structures.

Ward officers across various zones within the TMC limits conducted inspections to identify illegal constructions. Following these inspections, the Encroachment Department launched the demolition operations.

A civic official confirmed that the anti-encroachment team was formed under the instructions of TMC Commissioner Saurabh Rao. The teams, each led by the Assistant Municipal Commissioner of the respective wards, were directed to take prompt action against unauthorized structures upon receiving complaints.

Deputy Municipal Commissioner (Encroachment Department) Shankar Patole confirmed that a total of 33 unauthorized structures were demolished across the TMC jurisdiction. He added that the demolition drive is ongoing and further action will continue as needed.

The operation involved the use of Poklen machines, JCBs, gas cutters, tractor breakers, and other equipment, along with adequate manpower. The demolition was carried out under the protection of the police and personnel from the Maharashtra Security Force.
