Thane, August 6, 2026: Thane Municipal Commissioner Saurabh Rao chaired a high-level review meeting on Thursday to evaluate the beautification and infrastructure upgrades at Rayladevi Lake. Held following a detailed representation by local corporator Namrata Bhosale regarding civic concerns, the meeting focused on the progress of Phase 1, planning for Phase 2, and critical security and sanitation measures.
Priority Directives Issued
Addressing frequent complaints from local residents, Commissioner Rao issued directions to fast-track foundational work before advancing internal upgrades:
● Protective Perimeter: Priority construction of a boundary wall around the lake perimeter to secure open land and prevent encroachments.
● Security Measures: Enhanced police patrolling to curb anti-social activities and public nuisance, along with the deployment of security guards and protective sheds.
● CCTV Surveillance: Immediate activation of all installed CCTV cameras to establish round-the-clock monitoring.
● Debris And Sanitation Management: Prompt removal of accumulated debris and the creation of a dedicated, permanent cleaning mechanism.
● Power Coordination: Streamlined coordination with MSEDCL to address power infrastructure issues and ensure functional lighting across the precinct.
Phase 2 Infrastructure Plans
Discussions with senior Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) officials centred on Phase 2, which aims for the comprehensive transformation of the lake area. Key proposals include slope stabilisation, dedicated parking zones, and robust long-term maintenance frameworks.
